Solorzano and Clough Fuel Series Opening Win Over Delaware

Aggies end four-game losing skid.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State used a five‑run fourth inning and an eight‑inning surge to pull away from Delaware, earning an 11-6 victory Thursday night at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium. With the win, the Aggies put an end to a four-game losing streak, while improving to 12-16 overall and 4-6 in Conference USA play.

Delaware grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the opening inning, but the Aggies answered right away in the bottom half. After Steve Solorzano and Aidan Taclas reached, Jonatan Clough doubled down the left‑field line to drive in two runs and cut the deficit to one.

NM State took control in the third and fourth innings. Solorzano launched a two‑run home run down the right‑field line in the third, then the Aggies erupted for five runs in the fourth, highlighted by RBI hits from Dane Woodcook, Solorzano, Easton Rulli, and a run‑scoring knock by Clough to build a 9-3 advantage.

Delaware clawed back with three runs in the seventh to make it a 9-6 game, but NM State answered immediately in the eighth. Clough delivered again, lacing a two‑run double to left to bring home Taclas and Solorzano and restore the Aggies' cushion.

Solorzano led the offense with a 4‑for‑5 performance, scoring four runs and driving in three. Clough finished with five RBIs, while Rulli and Woodcook each added run‑producing hits as NM State totaled 12 hits on the night.

On the mound, JT Price earned the win with 2.1 innings of relief, and the Aggie bullpen shut down Delaware over the final frames with strong outings from Carson Timmons, Julio Ramos and Dylan Weekly.
