Aggies Shine in Dominant Win Over Delaware

Every NM State starter records a hit in the win.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State delivered its most complete offensive performance of the season Thursday night, rolling past Delaware 15-9 at Presley Askew Field at Johnson Stadium to clinch the series over the Blue Hens. The victory moves the Aggies to 13-16 on the year and 5-6 in Conference USA play, while Delaware fell to 10-21 and 1-10 in league action.
 
For the second straight night, Delaware jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Aggies quickly answered in the second. After Easton Rulli reached base, Boston Vest ripped an RBI double, and Chris Daniels followed with a run‑scoring single to cut the deficit to one.
 
NM State took the lead for good in the middle innings. After the Aggies tied the game in the fourth, Jonatan Clough tallied an RBI triple to push the Aggies in front 5-4 in the fifth. Rulli then put the ball in play to score Clough in the next at-bat before Chris Daniels hit a solo home run moments later to extend the lead to three.
 
The Blue Hens made a brief surge in the sixth inning; however, NM State kept them at bay as it took advantage of two Delaware errors to score five runs on just two hits, bringing the score to 12-6 with three innings to play.
 
The Aggies tacked on three more in the eighth, keyed by Camden Kaufman's RBI single, aggressive baserunning from Solorzano and a sacrifice fly from Aidan Taclas. Delaware scored three runs in the ninth, but NM State shut the door to secure the win.
 
Kaufman paced the offense with a 2‑for‑4 night with four RBIs from the nine spot in the lineup., Clough finished with three hits and an, while Boston Vest drove in three runs. NM State totaled 14 hits and drove in runs in six different innings.
 
On the mound, Hazen Wright as he allowed no earned runs across 2.2 innings of relief, while Julio Ramos and Carson Timmons tossed effective innings for the second night in a row.
 
NOTABLES
  • Camden Kaufman posted his second multi-RBI game of the season.
  • NM State submitted the most sac flies in a single game for the program since March 20, 2021, when the Aggies posted four sac flies against Northern Colorado.
  • Boston Vest equaled his career high in RBIs with three, matching his efforts against LA Tech on March 21.
  • For the second consecutive night, Aidan Taclas scored three runs to mark his most in a single game as an Aggie.
  • Colton Sneddon turned in the longest outing of his career, tossing 3.1 innings in the starting role.
  • Hazen Wright also tallied his longest outing of the season and earned the first collegiate win of his young career. He also equaled his career high in strikeouts with four.
  • Steve Solorzano recorded two stolen bases to mark the first time in his career that he stole two bags in a single game.
  • The Aggies have now posted double digit hits in 13 games this season.
  • NM State improved to 11-1 when scoring eight or more runs.
  • Both Steve Solorzano and Easton Rulli extended their hit streaks to 12 games to mark the longest streaks by any Aggie this season. Rulli also paces the Aggies in consecutive games in which he reached base at 21.
