Aggie Look to Get Back on Track at Home

Aggies host Chicago State and Kansas City in a pair of WAC games.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team welcomes Chicago State and league-leading Kansas City to the Pan American Center for a pair of WAC home games. The aggies take on the Cougars at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, and the Roos on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m.

Break Bread
During Thursday night's game against Chicago State, we will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items, such as beans and rice, which will be donated to the Aggie Cupboard.
 
Back(Pack)ing Up the Record Book
Through 21 games of the 2019-20 season, Gia Pack ranks 7th on the NM State all-time scoring list with 1,649 points. Pack is just the seventh player in school history to score at least 1,600 points.

Scouting the Cougars
The Cougars visit the City of Crosses with a 1-20 overall record and a 1-7 record in Western Athletic Conference play. The Aggies defeated Chicago State 73-60 in Chicago on Jan. 9.
 
Chicago State has struggled on both sides of the ball this season and rank last in the conference in points per game (58.5) and points against (84.1).
 
Scouting the Roos
Kansas City currently sits atop the WAC standings with a 6-2 conference record. The Aggies were tripped up in a close game at Kansas City, 56-52, on Jan. 12, in a game that was postponed by a day due to inclement weather.
 
The Roos are led by Ericka Mattingly who averages 15.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. The Aggies held Mattingly to just two points with zero made field goals in their last meeting. Emily Ivory averages 10.6 points per game on 36.3-percent three-point shooting while Cristina Soriano adds 10.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
 
Kansas City ranks in the middle of the pack in conference on offense but has exceled on the defensive end. The Roos hold the best field goal percentage defense in the league, holding opponents to a .374 shooting clip.
