The New Mexico State women's basketball team is set to tip off its season on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 12 p.m. (MT) in the Battle of I-10 in El Paso. The Aggies and Miners were originally slated to tip at 1 p.m. This is NM State's first athletic event since the women's basketball team defeated UT Rio Grande Valley 73-61 in the WAC Quarterfinals on March 11.

The Aggies have also announced their second non-conference matchup of the season. NM State is set to take on Park Gilbert (Ariz.) on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 12 p.m. (MT) at LEAD Athletics in Tucson.

Preseason Picks
Two Aggies were honored with preseason awards by the Western Athletic Conference. Redshirt senior
Aaliyah Prince was named preseason First Team All-WAC after averaging 11.7 points per game including three games with 20 or more points.

Joining Prince on the All-WAC preseason squad is sophomore guard
Soufia Inoussa, who earned a second team nod. Inoussa was named to the WAC All-Newcomer team following the 2019-20 season after starting all 30 games for the Aggies. The Stockholm, Sweden, native averaged 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Scouting the Miners
The Miners are coming off a 16-14 season in which it posted an 8-10 record in C-USA action. UTEP defeated FAU 95-67 in the first round of the C-USA tournament before the season was cancelled. The Miners defeated the Aggies twice last season, 63-57 in Las Cruces and 65-45 in El Paso.

UTEP is led by sophomore Katia Gallegos who was named to the 2021 Nancy Lieberman Award Preseason Watch List following a stellar freshman season where she averaged 5.1 assists per game. Gallegos was also voted to the C-USA preseason All-Conference team. However, the Miners lost their top-two scorers from a year ago, Katarina Zec and Ariona Gill, to graduation.

A Look at the Buccaneers
The Buccaneers went 13-15 a season ago competing at the NAIA level. Park Gilbert is off to a 1-0 start this season following an 89-62 win over SAGU-American Indian University. Destiny Vigil scored a team-high 15 points in the win.
