Castañeda begins his first season with the Aggies and will serve as an offensive analyst primarily working with the offensive line.
Most recently, Castañeda served as a graduate assistant at Northeastern State and worked closely with the offensive line and tight ends. At Northeastern State, he coached tight end Cam Woods who was named a NCAA Division II First Team All-American.
He also has experience working as a personal trainer coach specializing in lineman skills with Bulls on Parade Offensive Line Skills Training.
Prior to getting into coaching, Castañeda fulfilled a playing career which concluded with three seasons in the Indoor Football League, playing for the Sioux Falls Storm (2019), Frisco Fighters (2021) and Vegas Knight Hawks (2022). With the Storm, Castañeda helped the team claim the 2019 IFL title while serving as a team captain.
As a collegiate player, Castañeda spent two seasons at Texas Tech, including the 2015 season in which he played in all 13 games, blocking for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. With Castañeda’s help in 2015, the Red Raider offense finished second in the nation in total offense (579.5 ypg), passing offense (388.2 ypg) and scoring offense (45.1 ppg).
Following his stop in Lubbock, Texas, Castañeda played one season at Ellsworth Community College where he earned NJCAA honorable mention All-American honors. He also earned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference First Team All-Region honors as a sophomore during the 2016 season as he helped the Panthers average 354.6 yards per game.
His collegiate career concluded with two seasons at Utah State where he capped off his career by being named Honorable Mention All-Mountain West in 2018. At Utah State, he started all 26 games and served a key role in the unit tasked with protecting quarterback Jordan Love.
Castañeda received his Bachelor's Degree in General Studies in 2019 from Utah State.
