DALLAS – The NM State Aggies lost their first CUSA road series in game two of the three game series 0-14 March 29, in Dallas, Texas. The Aggies only managed to get one hit, which was a Mitch Namie single up the middle in the fourth.
Treyjen Meza earned the start in the second game of the season. After walking the first DBU batter, former Aggie Ethan Mann got a hold of a ball to left center to score the first run of the game.
Shortly after the double the Patriots would put on a sacrifice bunt to put Mann on third. With a single up the middle, the Pats scored the second run of the game, taking an early two-run lead over the Aggies.
In the bottom of the second, Meza fell back into regular form holding the Patriots scoreless after giving up one walk but forced two backward K's and a fly out.
The Patriots managed to get their first two batters on with back-to-back singles in the third. Grant Jay then stepped up to plate and hit a three-run home run to put the Patriots up by five.
DBU was not done scoring in the third as they would get two more players on with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Miguel Santos would single to center field to score the runner on second. With runners on first and third DBUs left fielder singled to left field to earn the Patriots seventh run of the ball game.
Patriot Luke Heefner knocked a bases clearing double to right-center that ended up scoring two more runs in the third. With the double the Patriots go up nine to zero on the Aggies. After the double Meza's time on the mound would finish leaving Connor Wylde to close out the third.
With wild on the mound the runner on second base managed to steal third, just 90 feet away from home. The Patriot at the plate would then hit a double down the gap between left and center field to put the Patriots up by ten. Jay would then hit a two-run home run to put DBU up by 12.
Wylde would find his grove in the fourth sitting down the first three Patriot batters.
Aaron Treloar came into the game for the Aggies on the mound in the bottom of the fifth. After getting one out he would give up a single then Treloar hit the next Patriot at the plate to put runners on first and second. A single through the left side scored the runner on second to give the Patriots 13 runs. The Patriots managed to earn one more run on a single through the right side for their 14th and final run of the game.
