LAST TIME OUT
NM State struggled in its opening weekend, dropping all three games at home to Bellarmine. The Aggies showed signs of life on Sunday afternoon as the offense put up nine runs and took the Knights to extra innings.

A LOOK AT LAMAR
Coming into the Sugar Land Classic, Lamar has become one of the most intriguing stories in the first week of college baseball. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Cardinals went into College Station and took down No. 5 Texas A&M before returning to Beaumont and defeating Kansas State. The Cardinals also swept Oakland on Opening Weekend in a trio of one-run games.

NOTES ON NORTHWESTERN STATE
The opening weekend was not as kind to Northwestern State as it was to Lamar. In the Jaguar Classic, hosted by South Alabama, the Demons dropped all three games. Northwestern State got into the win column on Tuesday evening with a home win over NAIA-foe LSU-Alexandria.

SCOUTING SETON HALL
Seton Hall did not shy away from a challenge on opening weekend. The Pirates went into Chapel Hill and took the season opener against No. 12 North Carolina. From there, the Tar Heels bounced back and won the final two games of the series. Much like NM State, Seton Hall did not compete in midweek action before heading to Houston.

Coincidentally, Dana Brown, the new General Manager of the Houston Astros, was a four-year standout for the Pirates and is a member of the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame.

THEY CALL US THE SPACE COWBOYS
We'll channel our inner Steve Miller Band as we head to the home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys for the Sugar Land Classic. NM State will play Lamar, Northwestern State, and Seton Hall in the three-game event.

WELCOME TO THE SHOW
When NM State meets Seton Hall on Sunday, the two teams will have traveled a combined 2,414 miles with the Pirates traveling 1,633 from South Orange, New Jersey. Like Cody Johnson says, "From miles around, the best of the best come here to put their tough to the test..."

ALL HAIL HALE
OF Damone Hale stole four bases for NM State in the three-game against Bellarmine. Hale finished the opening weekend tied for sixth nationally in stolen bases. In 2022, Tommy Tabak led the Aggies with 10 stolen bases.

PRESEASON ALL-WAC
A pair of Aggies - 1B Logan Gallina and 2B Kevin Jimenez - picked up a pair of Preseason All-WAC honors. For both Gallina and Jimenez, it is their third career All-WAC selection. Gallina was named to both the First Team All-WAC and the All-Defensive team last season. Jimenez earned Second Team All-WAC honors in 2021 before being named to the Preseason All-WAC team in 2022.

FOR THE RECORD...
Infielder Kevin Jimenez sits inside or near the top-ten in NM State school history for many offensive categories. With 45 career doubles, Jimenez needs just 16 this season to become NM State's all-time two-bag leader.

ALL OVER NORTH AMERICA
Not only is NM State's roster well represented from across the United States, the Aggies have members from Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico as well. RHP Will Sierra hails from Montreal, Québec, Canada and was a member of the Team Canada Junior National Team from 2015-17. RHP Pablo Cortes, who earned WAC All-Tournament Team and WAC Pitcher of the Week honors last season, is a native of Juarez, Mexico.

NM State is one of just two schools in Division I baseball to have roster members from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. St. Thomas out of the Summit League is the other to boast the international roster.

Up Next
Following the trip to Texas, NM State will return to Las Cruces for four games at Presley Askew Field next week. The Aggies will host Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday for "Snuggie Night" at The 'Skew before welcoming Pacific to town for a three-game set, beginning Friday, March 3.
