GAME ONE | Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 1, NM State 0
First Inning
Aydenne Brown got the nod in the opener, making the second start of her debut season with the Aggies. She quickly got to work as she struck out three of the Islanders' first four batters to keep Texas A&M-Corpus Christi off the board early on.
In the bottom half, the Aggies were able to get a runner in scoring position after
Jillian Taylor reached base on balls before stealing second. However, the Aggies would be unable to advance Taylor any further.
Second Inning
Brown continued her hot start as she reached a new season-high in strikeouts with five after facing just six batters. Although, the Islanders' Primrose Aholelei also brought her best stuff into the circle on Friday as she kept the Aggies scoreless through two innings.
Fourth Inning
With the score still even at 0-0, the pitcher's duel was fully engaged as both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and NM State failed to reach base in the fourth inning.
Fifth Inning
Aydenne Brown remained dominant in the fifth inning as she tallied three more strikeouts to move her game total to 10. With that, the Canadian became just the third Aggie in the last 10 seasons to record double-digit strikeouts in a single outing.
Seventh Inning
The Islanders finally broke through in the seventh inning when they loaded the bases before Sidney Campion earned a walk from
Jordin King to score the lone run of the game.
In total, the Aggies had just three runners reach scoring position while tallying just three hits.
GAME TWO | South Dakota State 3, NM State 2
First Inning
After being unable to plate any runners in the first game of the weekend, the Aggie offense quickly got to work against South Dakota State. The Aggies' leadoff,
Jessica Carreon earned a walk in the first at-bat on the game before a ground out advanced her to second. Senior
Kayla Bowen then hit her third double of the season to bring the speedy Carreon in from second – putting the Aggies ahead 1-0.
Emily Dix then did her part in the circle and worked through a three-up, three-down inning to leave the Aggies in front after one.
Second Inning
NM State doubled its lead in the first at-bat of the second inning as
Devin Elam hit her second home run of the season.
Third Inning
Following a top half in which all three Aggie batters struck out, South Dakota State was able to take advantage of a double which placed runners at second and third as Rozelyn Carrillo hit a sacrifice fly into right field to bring home the Jackrabbits' first run of the game.
Fifth Inning
On the heels of a scoreless fourth, South Dakota State scored again in the fifth inning as Emma Osmundson's single brought in a runner from second base – evening the score at two runs a piece.
Seventh Inning
Both sides put up zeroes in the sixth to set up for a pressure-filled seventh inning. With one out,
Jayleen Burton got aboard thanks to an infield single – leaving the top of the order with an opportunity to bring in the go-ahead run. Unfortunately, the furthest Burton would get is third base.
South Dakota State then worked a runner to second before Osmundon tallied her second RBI of the game to hand the Jackrabbits their fifth win of the season.
