BELLEVUE, Wash. – In the opening game of a crucial WAC series, the NM State baseball team fell 6-3 to Seattle U on the road. The Aggies fall to 4-12 in conference play and 2-8 away from Presley Askew Field.

A pair of early leads were not enough for the Aggies on Friday night. NM State got on the board in the first inning when Logan Gallina singled to right field, scoring Brandon Dieter. The RBI single was the sixth run that Gallina has driven in this week. Nolan Funke extended the lead to two with a sacrifice fly to right field.

After getting a run back in the first inning, Seattle U tied the game at two in the second. Ian Mejia used the first of four Aggie double plays to limit the damage after the Redhawks led off with three consecutive singles.

Missing a home run by inches, Cal Villareal legged out a triple, scoring Tommy Tabak. Earlier in the inning, Tabak had reached on an error to get the offense in scoring position.

From there on out, it was all Redhawks. Seattle U tacked on two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead before adding insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings. The Aggies went quietly in the ninth inning, falling to Seattle U 6-3 in the series opener.
