Records: Prairie View A&M (3-8); NM State (8-2)
Location: Las Cruces, N.M. (Presley Askew Field)

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –  After winning both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, the NM State baseball team once again found itself in the win column on Sunday afternoon. The Aggies have won eight of their last nine ballgames and are of the hottest teams in all of Division I.

NM State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. After Gunner Antillon and Kevin Jimenez recorded consecutive base hits, Preston Godfrey got the Aggies on the board with an RBI single. Logan Gallina tallied the fourth straight hit for the Aggies when he doubled to score Jimenez. With one away, Ryan Grabosch lifted a sacrifice fly to push the third run of the inning across.

Prairie View A&M responded with four runs of their own in the top of the second inning, all of which were unearned. Defensively, the Aggies committed a pair of errors in the inning to self-inflict some damage. In the bottom half of the frame, NM State tied the game when Tommy Tabak doubled to left field, scoring Nolan Funke.

After Ian Mejia worked a scoreless third inning, the Panthers retook the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout.

NM State answered quickly, hanging a five-spot of their own in the inning. Back-to-back run-scoring doubles from Antillon and Jimenez got NM State's scoring going. After a lineout to center field, Gallina joined the two-bagger club and scored Jimenez for the fourth run of the inning. Not to be outdone, Grabosch ripped a triple down the left field line for the fourth Aggie extra-base hit of the inning.

Chipping away at the four-run deficit, the Panthers got a pair of runs back in the fifth inning. Following the frame, Mejia was replaced on the mound by Kaden Palmer. Palmer would dominate the Panther lineup, working 3.0 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.

After Jimenez led off the NM State half of the eighth with a walk, Gallina launched a towering home run into the trees beyond right field. The long ball marked Gallina's third run of the inning and 10th and 11th runs driven in of the weekend.

In the ninth inning, Palmer gave way to Alex Bustamonte. In the inning, the Panthers put together a pair of runs before Bustamonte induced a groundout to second base to end the ballgame.
