Opening Tip

NM State rides into Albuquerque with a 3-5 combined record after spending this past weekend in San Diego for the USD Winter Classic, which saw the team go 1-1 during the weekend.

The Lobos enter the game 5-4 after recently defeating Abilene Christian (71-61).

The last meeting between the two programs came on Nov. 15 in Las Cruces, a game that saw the Aggies hold off the Lobos 73-64 in a tightly contested overtime battle.

Last Time Out

The Aggies traveled out west to San Diego last weekend for a pair of games in the USD Winter Classic. The team went 1-1 during the weekend beating San Diego (57-52) in the first game and falling to Idaho (62-68) in the second game.

The win against San Diego marks the first road win for the Aggies since the 2020-21 season (3/6/21) after the team went a combined 0-12 on the road last season.

The loss to Idaho comes after a game which saw three Aggies reach double figures in scoring: Sylena Peterson (22), Molly Kaiser (11) and Taylor Donaldson (10). Peterson also pulled in 13 rebounds in the game giving her the first double-double of her career.

Double-Digit Duo

The guard pair of Molly Kaiser and Sylena Peterson lead the Aggies in scoring this season averaging 10.4 (Kaiser) and 10.3 (Peterson) points a contest.

Kaiser has reached double figures in four separate contest this year: 12 points vs. New Mexico (11/15), 15 points at UTEP (11/30), 14 points at San Diego (12/3) and 11 points vs. Idaho in the USD Winter Classic (12/4)

Peterson had herself a nice outing in her hometown of San Diego last weekend. The second-year guard scored a combined 38 points in a pair of games versus San Diego and Idaho. In her last game against Idaho, Peterson recorded 22 points and 13 rebounds en route to her first career double-double.

Knocking 'em Down

Second year forward, Ashlee Strawbridge leads the team in both field goal percentage (.512) and three-point percentage (.625). Strawbridge has connected on 21 of her 41 shots taken this season, including five makes from three-point range.

Big Minutes

Three diffrent Aggies have played 200 or more minutes for Jody Adams this season: Ashlee Strawbridge (228), Fama Thiam (213) and Molly Kaiser (200). Additionally, these are the only three members to have started in all eight of the Aggies contests this season.

Road Warriors

The contest against New Mexico will mark the sixth and final game of a lengthy road stretch for NM State. Ironically enough, the Aggies last game in Las Cruces came 26 days ago on Nov. 15 against the Lobos. NM State will return home on Tuesday (Dec. 13) for another date with UTEP before hitting the road again Saturday (Dec. 17) for a game against Portland State. The Aggies will also close out the 2022 year with a trip to Edinburg, T.X. to take on UTRGV for it's conference opener.

Up Next

The Aggies will return to the Pan Am Tuesday at 6 p.m. for another rivalry matchup against UTEP. This will be the second meeting between the Aggies and Miners in as many weeks - The Miners secured a 65-61 victory over the Aggies in El Paso on Novermber 30.
