DELAND, Fla. – The New Mexico State volleyball team hit .350 to power past Stetson in its final match at the Stetson Invitational, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19. The Aggies have now won six-straight matches and 18-straight sets.
"We were solid defensively," said head coach
Mike Jordan. "Stetson plays good volleyball and we were just a little more physical."

The Aggies (9-3, 0-0 WAC) attacked from the right early and often and found major success as
Shaney Lipscomb hit four kills in the first set with
Katie Birtcil finishing the frame with six. The middle was also open for the Aggies with
Lia Mosher notching four kills on just six swings to open the match. After going back-and-forth to open the set, the Aggies ripped off an 8-2 run to close it out 25-17.

NM State again found itself in a tightly contested set with the Hatters as the two squads were tied at 15 coming out of the media timeout. However, the Aggies responded and again closed out the set strong, opening a 20-16 lead before eventually closing it out 25-20.

Stetson refused to go down easily and opened a 4-0 lead in the third frame, forcing a timeout from
Mike Jordan. The Aggies responded and quickly tied the match up at five before taking a 15-4 lead into the media timeout. After extending its lead to 20-17, NM State finished strong, riding a 5-1 run to cap off their sixth-straight sweep.

Cat Kelly finished the match with nine kills and 14 digs as she was named Tournament MVP. Lipscomb led the way for the Aggies with 15 kills while NM State's other right side,
Katie Birtcil, added 11 kills on .611 hitting.
Victoria Barrett was a virtuoso at the service line, serving up four aces while
Lia Mosher hit .310 or above for the 13
th time in her last 14 matches with nine kills on .429 hitting.

Lipscomb and Birtcil were also named to the All-Tournament team, marking the second-straight tournament the two have earned the honor.

Carly Aigner-Swesey and
Alana Embry facilitated an Aggie offense that hit .350 with 29 and 18 assists respectively.

NM State now gets Western Athletic Conference play with a WAC Championship rematch against Utah Valley in Orem, Utah, on Thursday, Sept. 23, inside Lockhart Arena. The heavyweight bout is set to stream live on
ESPN+ beginning at 6 p.m. (MT).
