ORLANDO, Fla. - The NM State Aggies dropped their second-straight game to the 24th-ranked UCF Knights in an 11-2 loss on Saturday afternoon in Orlando, Fla. The loss drops the Aggies to 1-5 on the year.
Two-out scoring would be the headline, as the Aggies were unable to get the final out of the inning on multiple occasions allowing the Knights to score seven runs with two outs.Â
The Knights got on the board first with a two-out single in the bottom of the first inning to give them a 2-0 lead. The Aggies would quickly respond, as junior
Kayla Bowen recorded her first RBI of the year to cut the lead in half. The Knights would once again have a two-out rally in the bottom of the second inning on a three-run homer to increase their lead to five. The Aggies would once again respond with an RBI single by redshirt freshman
Matalasi Faapito to cut into UCF's lead, but the Aggies would leave two runners on base.
Faapito continued her terrific start to the season, as she went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a walk. Faapito is now hitting a staggering .462 for the Aggies through six games.Â
The two teams will finish up the three-game series tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the UCF Softball Complex in Orlando.
