Box Score 2 LEESBURG, Fla. - The NM State softball squad was unable to get the bats going in a pair of losses (7-2, 11-2) against Liberty on Monday. The two losses drop the Aggies to 1-3 on the year.
Game One
The Aggies had their opportunities, but a 5-0 deficit was too much in a 7-2 loss to the Flames. The Flames scored runs in the first three innings to build their lead. The Aggies would get on the board in the fifth inning on sacrifice fly by redshirt freshman
Hope Banales to score freshman
Jillian Taylor. The Aggies would chip into the lead again in the sixth inning on a wild pitch that scored redshirt freshman
Hailey Tanori, but the Aggies would leave the bases loaded.
The Aggies left six runners on base and had four errors throughout the game.
Felicia De La Torre got the start and would go 2.2 innings giving up four runs on six hits while striking out two. Tanori and redshirt freshman
Matalasi Faapito led the Aggies in the batter's box with two hits each.Â
Game Two
The Aggies started off the game with a bang, but big third and fifth innings by the Flames would lead them to an 11-2 victory in five innings. Redshirt freshman
Ramsay Lopez hit her second home run of the year in the top of the first inning to give the Aggies the quick lead, but the Flames would tie up the game in the bottom half of the inning. Faapito would get the start in game two and had a solid first two innings allowing just two hits. A Lopez sacrifice fly would cut the lead to 6-2, but much like the first game, the Aggies would leave runners in scoring position with only one run to show for it.Â
Up Next
The Aggies will head to Orlando for a three-game series against 21st-ranked UCF. The teams will play on Friday (4 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (11 p.m.)
