EL PASO, Texas – Aaliyah Prince scored a career-high 25 points but the New Mexico State women's basketball team fell in overtime to Battle of I-10 rival UTEP, 81-73, at the Don Haskins Center on Wednesday night. This was the second-straight meeting between the two teams to go to overtime.

The Aggies (1-2, 0-0 WAC) raced out to a 24-17 lead after one quarter behind 14 first-quarter points from Prince. After a pair of three pointers from
Soufia Inoussa gave the Aggies a 30-17 lead to start the second quarter, the Miners began to battle back and the Aggies led 42-34 at the break.

Prince scored 20 points in the first half.

After a slow start to the second half for both teams,
Tayelin Grays extended the Aggie lead back to 10, 44-34 at the 8:36 mark of the third quarter. However, UTEP refused to go away and trimmed the lead to 54-48 entering the fourth quarter.

The Miners then stormed back and took a 65-63 lead with 23 seconds left before
Adrianna Henderson converted a three-point play for a 66-65 Aggie lead with 4.3 seconds to play. After a foul call on the Aggies with one second left, UTEP made one-of-two free throws and the two rivals went to overtime for the second time in seven days. Â

However, the Miners dominated the extra period and came away with an 81-73 win over NM State.

Along with Prince's career night, Henderson (12), Inoussa (10) and Grays (10) all scored in double-figures. Prince was lights out, shooting 10-15 from the field while Inoussa also added eight rebounds. As a team, NM State shot 19-22 from the free throw line but was outrebounded by UTEP 43-31.
