THE RIVALRY RUNS DEEP
Bragging rights are on the line when the two programs meet for the 110th time in history this Saturday.

The Lobos hold a 71-33-5 all-time series lead over the Aggies, including a 40-14-3 advantage on their home turf. NM State has maintained the upper hand since 2016, however, winning two of the previous three matchups.

The Aggies won 32-21 at home in 2016 before once again knocking off New Mexico, 30-28, on the road in 2017.

The Lobos defeated NM State, 42-25, in last season's contest at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Multiple Aggie playmakers, including key returnees quarterback Josh Adkins, tailback Jason Huntley, wideout OJ Clark and linebacker Javahn Fergurson, terrorized New Mexico despite the setback.

Adkins, in his first extended appearance, threw for 168 yards and a touchdown. He linked up with Huntley, who finished with 87 receiving yards on four catches, for a 58-yard score. Huntley also gashed the Lobos on the ground, rushing for 67 yards on 15 carries (4.5 avg).

Clark caught four passes through the air, as well, racking up 27 receiving yards. Fergurson, meanwhile, had the game of his life, logging a career-best 22 tackles, including a personal-best 2.0 sacks.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS
New Mexico enters Saturday's tilt with a 1-1 overall record, coming off of a 66-14 loss at No. 7 Notre Dame. Quarterback Sheriron Jones made the start and threw three interceptions before giving way to backup Tevaka Tuioti in the second half.

Tuioti, who led the Lobos on a 75-yard fourth-quarter scoring drive against Notre Dame, is expected to get the start versus NM State. The redshirt sophomore, though plagued by injuries throughout his career, is a dual-threat quarterback, possessing the ability to make plays with his arm and legs.

Halfback Ahmari Davis is the offense's most dangerous weapon. Davis has rushed for 129 yards on 25 carries (5.2 avg) and two scores through the first two games of the year.

Defensively, the Lobos are led by linebacker Alex Hart. The captain is second on the team in total tackes (14) with 2.0 tackles for losses this season, including 1.0 sacks.
