LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State softball team travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to take on Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico on Wednesday, March 21. First pitch for the midweek contest is set for 5:30 p.m. MT.

TOP TIER
Rachel Rodriguez ranks in the NM State career record book top-five for hits (219), triples (10), stolen bases (76), and stolen base attempts (85). Kelsey Horton also joins the Aggie greats with 39 career home runs, so far, to put her in fifth all-time. She also posts eight sacrifice flies, which puts her in a tie for fourth place.
LAST TIME OUT
For the team's last series, New Mexico State hosted Minnesota and tallied a 1-2 record against the Golden Gophers. The Aggies shutout the reigning Big Ten champions 3-0 in the series opener but fell in the following contests 7-0 and 15-5.
In the victory over the Golden Gophers, Kennedy Johnson drove in a pair of runs when she hit a two-out double to left field. Nikki Butler recorded single in the fifth inning that brought Rachel Rodriguez home for the final NM State run. Analise De La Roca picked up the win when the freshman pitched 4.2 innings, allowing five hits and striking out a single Gopher batter. Samaria Diaz went 2.1 innings in the contest, allowing two hits and two walks while also striking out a pair of batters.
KNOW YOUR FOE: NEW MEXICO
New Mexico enters the contest with after posting a 7-21 overall record and a 1-2 record during the team's first Mountain West Conference series. The Lobo squad is batting .235 while also holding an 8.39 ERA.
Leading the charge on offense for UNM is Chelsea Johnson, who comes in with a .312 batting average in her 27 games played this season. The senior has tallied 24 hits including a team-best five home runs. In the circle, Jensen Main posts the lowest ERA for the Lobos at 5.88. The junior is 4-9 in her 17 appearances including three complete games.
COMING UP: BATTLE OF I-10
Following the midweek tilt with the Lobos, the Aggies return to the NM State Softball complex to host Battle of I-10 rival UTEP in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27.
