@NMStateBaseball Opens Weekend Series with Maine

NM State baseball welcomes Maine to Presley Askew Field for a four-game weekend series, March 16-18.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State baseball team gets set for a four-game weekend series against Maine from March 16-18. The series opener with the Black Bears is on Friday, March 16, at 4 p.m. MT, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 17, beginning at noon. The series finale comes on Sunday, March 18, with first pitch slated for 12:05 p.m.

WHERE TO WATCH
Aggie fans who can't make it to the weekend series can catch Sunday's action on television. You can listen to Adam Young and Jerry Lujan call the game on FOX Sports Arizona PLUS, Altitude Sports 2 and ESPN3 for the series finale. The game can also be watched on FOX College Sports Pacific on Sunday, March 18, at 4 p.m. MT.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
Maine enters Presley Askew for the weekend series with a 4-13 overall record. The Black Bears have dropped their last four contests, with the last win coming in a 7-5 decision at UT Rio Grande Valley.
 
At the plate, Maine has posted a .220 team batting average with 23 doubles, one triple and seven home runs. The opponent has driven in 58 runs and totaled 63 runs scored.
 
On the mound, the Black Bears have combined for a 6.42 earned run average and held opponents to a .277 batting average. Teams have been aggressive on the base path against Maine swiping 29 bags on 37 attempts.
 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies return home from a five-game Southeastern Conference road trip. Play opened with a pair of midweek losses at No. 21 Mississippi State. The team then traveled to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a weekend series with Alabama. NM State won the series opener, 3-0, before dropping the final two contests. The win over the Crimson Tide was the first victory over an SEC opponent in program history.
