LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State volleyball hosts the NM State SpringHill Suites Invitational beginning on Thursday, Aug. 31, with its match against North Dakota. The Aggies follow the game with matches against No. 11 UCLA and UNLV on Friday and Saturday, respectively. All match times are set for 7 p.m. (MT).

TICKET TIME
Aggie fans looking to attend the NM State SpringHill Suites Invitational can park in the East and South lots at the Pan American Center. The North parking lot is closed to the public. Fans can purchase tickets on site at the main ticket office or at a mobile ticket office on the east side of the arena. GOLDEN GIRLS
Following the Golden Dome Invitational, seniors Jordan Abalos and Kassandra Tohm were named to the all-tournament team. Abalos recorded a double-double in two of the three matches and posted a .302 hitting percentage while tallying 38 digs and 43 kills during the tournament. Tohm started in all three matches, posting 40 kills and eight blocks while also hitting .240 over the weekend.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Senior Ariadnne Sierra found her way into the all-time record books, once again, in just her third match of the season. The libero recorded 32 digs in the Aggies loss to Notre Dame to tie the single-match record for digs in a four-set match. Sierra claimed the record for most digs in a five-set match and most digs in any match in 2016 when she tallied 36 dig in NM State's final match of the season against UTEP.
DOUBLE DOWN
Three Aggies recorded double-doubles at the Golden Dome Invitational. Abalos, Natalie Mikels and Briana Ainsworth had double-doubles against Valparaiso with Abalos recording 20 kills and 13 digs. Ainsworth had a team-high 29 assists and 15 digs while Mikels posted 24 assists and 11 digs. Abalos and Mikels repeated their success against the Fighting Irish by posting their second double-doubles of the day.
KNOW YOUR FOE: NORTH DAKOTA
North Dakota was projected to win the Big Sky Conference, as voted by the league's head coaches. After coming off their first NCAA berth in program history in 2016, the Fighting Hawks return last season's Big Sky most valuable player in Sydney Griffin, the tournament MVP in Faith Dooley and the conference Newcomer of the Year in Tamara Merseli.
UND went 4-1 to open the season with its only loss coming in straight sets to Georgia Tech. The Fighting Hawks notched a big 3-2 win over Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. North Dakota also picked up wins over Chattanooga, Louisiana Tech, and Florida A&M at the Rebel Invitational.
KNOW YOUR FOE: No. 11 UCLA
UCLA was voted to finish fifth in the Pacific-12 this season. In 2016, the Bruins made their way to the Regional Finals of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Minnesota. Historically, UCLA has won four national championships with its last coming in 2011.
The team enters the match with a 3-0 record after facing two ranked opponents last weekend. Â At the Texaco Rainbow Wahine Invitational, the Bruins took down No. 22 San Diego in three sets and defeated tournament host No. 20 Hawai'i in five sets.
A pair of Bruins' players earned PAC-12 weekly honors for to start the season. Zana Muno racked up the Defensive Player of the Week award while Mac May took home the Freshman of the Week honor. Muno posted 34 digs against Hawaii to tie the UCLA record for the fourth-most digs in a single match. She averaged 4.83 digs per set and 58 total digs for the weekend. May averaged 3.58 kills per set and posted a .238 hitting percentage when the Bruins were in the Aloha State. She recorded 17 kills against Marquette and followed the match with 18 kills against Hawai'i
KNOW YOUR FOE: UNLV
As voted on by the Mountain West head coaches, UNLV was picked to finish seventh in the conference. In 2016, the Rebels made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament when they defeated Utah, 3-1, before getting knocked off by No. 13 BYU.
Last weekend, UNLV went 2-1 in its home tournament. The Rebels opened the season by defeating Binghamton (3-0) before falling to UC Davis (3-1). The team rallied and closed out the tournament with a 3-1 win over Eastern Washington. UNLV defeated Eastern Kentucky in a five-set thriller Tuesday night, improving its record to 3-1 before making the trip to NM State. Mariena Hayden posted a match-high 21 kills in the victory and was one of three Rebels to register double-digit kills.
COMING UP: HOME AGAIN
Following the NM State SpringHill Suites Invitational the Aggies team up with UTEP to host the Borderland Invitational. NM State takes on Abilene Christian, Delaware State and Samford in the tournament. New Mexico State opens the tournament against ACU on Sept. 8, at 2 p.m.
