SCOUTING THE LOPES
Thursday's game will see the Aggies face off against conference rival Grand Canyon University, a team currently sitting at 12-9 overall and 4-4 in the WAC. The Lopes currently hold a two-game losing streak, with their most recent game seeing the team fall to UTRGV, 52-49 on Feb. 9.

GCU is led by redshirt senior, Marina Laramie, a center who is averaging 19.6 points and 7.1 rebounds, after starting in all 16 games she saw action. Two other players on the Lopes are also averaging double digit points as Brie Mobley is putting up 14.9 points, followed by Jessica Gajewski at 12.1.

As a team, GCU is currently being outscored by opponents 65.2-64.6. The Lopes have been able to catch heat, outscoring opponents in the second (358-311) and fourth (377-368) quarters. GCU's ability to grab a lead stems from good ball movement as they lead the WAC in assists per game at 14.6.

NM State currently holds a 7-0 series lead over Grand Canyon, as the team looks to stay unbeaten on Sunday. The last time these two teams faced off was back on Jan. 12, 2017, as the Aggies defeated the Lopes to a score of 81-65, on the Lopes home floor.

THE LEADER OF THE WAC
NM State has dominated in Western Athletic Conference competition as the team is 38-2 in their last 40 conference meetings, including tournament play, with a perfect 8-0 in WAC play this season. New Mexico State women's basketball also proves to be ahead of the WAC competition as they rank in the top-three in 20 of the 21 recorded team statistical categories.

This win swept the season series over the Roadrunners.
