LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies swept Chicago State on Sunday with an 8-2 win. It was their first WAC sweep since sweeping Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. on April 6, 2014.

The Aggies got on the board first with
Daniel Johnson poking a ball through the left side for a base hit. Johnson stole second during the next at-bat.
Dan Hetzel drew a full count walk. Hetzel and Johnson pulled off the double steal during the next at-bat, putting runners in scoring position with one out. Johnson scored on a wild pitch to put the Aggies up 1-0.

Chicago State tied it up in the top of the second with a run scoring on a throw down to second.

NM State regained the lead in the fourth as
Austin Botello singled to center to lead off the inning.
Joseph Koerper reached on a 5-4 fielder's choice, forcing out Botello at second. Koerper advanced to second on a chopper back to the pitcher.
Greg Popylisen singled on a hard hit ball up the middle, scoring Koerper and putting the Aggies up 2-1.

The Cougars retied the game in the top half of the fifth as a run scored from third on a failed pickoff attempt to first.

The Aggies took the lead to stay in the home half as
Daniel Johnson blasted a solo shot to right center, taking the lead 3-2.

NM State busted the game wide open in the sixth as
Austin Botello led off with a laser off of the batter's eye in center getting a triple.
Joseph Koerper doubled to left center, scoring Botello.
Trey Stine followed suit, hitting his own RBI double to left field, scoring Koerper.
Greg Popylisen joined the RBI double party with his own two-bagger to right center, scoring Stine.

The Aggies added two more in the seventh as
Daniel Johnson led off with a single to center.
Dan Hetzel hit into a 4-6-3 double play, erasing Johnson.
Austin Botello drew a walk on a 3-1 count.
Joseph Koerper singled to left, putting runners at first and second with two outs.
Trey Stine loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. Botello and Koerper both scored on back-to-back wild pitches to give the Aggies an 8-2 lead.

Next up for the Aggies is a road trip to Edinburgh, Texas for a weekend series with Texas Rio Grande Valley on Friday.
