Adeola Akomolafe adds to the Crimson & White coaching staff, coming to Las Cruces after spending a decade with the TCU Horned Frogs.
In her role as director of recruiting operations and student-athlete development, Akomolafe was instrumental in signing and developing five WNBA draft picks from the Horned Frogs over the past two seasons, including No. 2 overall pick Olivia Miles and No. 16 overall pick Marta Suarez.
The El Paso native was a five-year letter winner for the Horned Frogs from 2015-2020 and still holds the school record for games played (135). She completed a two-year appointment as a graduate assistant for TCU women's basketball from 2021-23 and was elevated into a full-time position in the following season. Akomolafe served as the program's video coordinator, a liaison to the TCU equipment and academic services staffs, aids in opponent scouting and overseaw on-campus recruiting.
Akomolafe helped guide TCU to its first Big 12 basketball championships and an Elite Eight run in 2024-25, and a regular-season title and Sweet Sixteen appearance last season. Akomolafe has been a key figure in the Horned Frogs' ability to sign the nation's most touted transfer portal classes, including 2025 Big 12 Player of the Year Hailey Van Lith, fellow All-Americans Olivia Miles, Sedona Prince, Marta Suarez and 2025 WNBA Draft pick Madison Conner.
As a graduate assistant for TCU women's basketball, Akomolafe had oversight of practice film and stat analysis. She was also responsible for opponent scouting, managed practice and game day operations and served as a point person between the program and TCU athletics administration.
During her playing career, Akomolafe helped the Horned Frogs win 99 games and notch a trio of WNIT berths across her half-decade on the hardwood. She guided the Horned Frogs to consecutive WNIT semifinal appearances in 2018 and 2019. The following year, Akomolafe made 27 starts on a Horned Frogs squad that placed second outright in the Big 12 before the postseason was canceled due to COVID-19.
For her career, Akomolafe suited up in a single-season record 135 contests in Purple & White, collecting 81 starts. She concluded her career at Schollmaier Arena with 508 rebounds, 490 points, 162 assists and 78 blocks. Akomolafe earned Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades as a senior in 2018-2019 and was an Academic All-Big 12 honoree in three seasons.
Akomolafe completed her bachelor's degree in movement science from TCU in 2020. She obtained a master's degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in higher education from TCU in 2023.
