Cobb enters his third year on staff, and his first under his new title of Assistant Head Coach and General Manager after spending last season as the running backs coach. Cobb began his career at NM State ahead of the 2023 season as the Director of Scouting/NFL Liaison for as a part of Jerry Kill’s staff

Last season, Cobb’s group of running backs amassed 1,894 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. This was highlighted by Seth McGowan (152 carries, 823 yards) and Mike Washington (158 carries, 713 yards) who became the first pair of Aggie running backs since 2000 to each eclipse 700 rushing yards in the same season. With Cobb’s help, the Aggies finished with the third-ranked rushing attack among Conference USA teams, averaging 180.0 rushing yards per game.

In his first year on staff at NM State, Cobb contributed to one of the program’s best seasons in program history as the Aggies tallied 10 wins for the first time since 1960 and earned back-to-back bowl bids for the first time since the 1959 and 1960 seasons.

Prior to his time with the Aggies, Cobb spent the 2022 season as a full-time scout for the Carolina Panthers. In 2020, he served as a scouting intern for the Tennessee Titans.

Ahead of his time as an NFL staff member, Cobb played eight seasons of professional football, chosen as a fifth-round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2015. Cobb ultimately spent two seasons in the NFL, playing for the Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League in 2018, and the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF in 2019.

A 2014 Second-Team All-Big Ten selection at the University of Minnesota under then-head coach Jerry Kill, Cobb ranks ninth in Golden Gopher history with 2,893 rushing yards.

As a player, Cobb turned in two 1,000-yard seasons for the Golden Gophers, including rushing for 1,626 yards as a senior in 2014 to rank fourth in the Big Ten behind future NFL players Melvin Gordon, Tevin Coleman and Ezekiel Elliott.

At Minnesota, Cobb logged 100-plus rushing yards 13 times during his career and tallied 20 rushing touchdowns.
