NM State 4, UC Irvine 1
The Aggies put together a dominant performance on today, securing a 4-1 victory over UC Irvine at the NM State Tennis Center.
NM State set the tone early by clinching the doubles point, earning victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The duo of Dora Kurdi and Whitney Moon cruised to a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot, while Montana Parkinson-Lubold and Lisa Zhu sealed the early lead with a hard-fought 7-5 victory at No. 2.
In singles play, NM State capitalized on its momentum with quick wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. Dora Kurdi dominated her match, taking down Maily Huynh 6-4, 6-1, while Parkinson-Lubold continued her strong day with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Bella Pitchford.
Lisa Zhu delivered the clinching point for the Aggies in dramatic fashion at the top singles spot. After edging out Carolyna Fowler in a tiebreaker to take the first set 7-6, Zhu battled through a tight second set to prevail 7-5, giving NM State the decisive fourth point.
UP NEXT
The Aggies will be back on the road next week, heading to California to take on UC San Diego and UC Riverside.
