NM State Closes Road Trip with Win Over Oral Roberts

Singles play carries Aggies over Golden Eagles.

TULSA, Okla. – NM State concluded its weekend stay in Oklahoma as it earned its first road win of the season – defeating Oral Roberts 4-1 at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center. With the win, the Aggies are now 7-11 on the season.

MATCH ONE | Tulsa 7, NM State 0
To start the weekend, NM State battled against a powerhouse in Tulsa as the Golden Hurricane earned all seven points possible in the opener against the Aggies. The lone Aggie to push his opponent to three sets was Itay Feigin at No. 1 where Feigin bounced back from a loss in the first set to take the second set 6-4, however, Tulsa's Pierce Rollins who is currently ranked 93rd in the nation finished the match with a 10-7 victory.

MATCH TWO | Tulsa 4, NM State 0
Unfortunately, the second match against the Golden Hurricane was much of the same as Tulsa earned four quick points to clinch the match.

MATCH THREE | NM State 4, Oral Roberts 1
The Aggie doubles teams struggled early as ORU earned the early advantage with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Perhaps this lit a fire within the Crimson and White as Roko Stipetic quickly evened the score with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Parv Nage at No. 3.

Moments later, NM State took hold of a 2-1 lead as Gustavo Campos fought his way to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cayden Creek at No. 4. This momentum carried over to court No. 5 where Patrick Lohmann tallied a 6-3, 6-1 win over Aaron Brewer. Then, at No. 2, Tobias Wallin clinched the match for the visiting Aggies as he bested his ORU opponent, Eli Brewer, by a score of 7-5, 7-5.
