COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Aggies battled to several impressive wins on the opening day of the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
 
Gustavo Campos and Tobias Wallin looked strong as a pair to start the day as they earned a convincing 6-2 win over Montana State's Maximillian Relic and Andras Necz. Elsewhere, fellow Aggie Patrick Lohmann was partnered with Montana's Jacob Watkins and immediately formed a connection to defeat Jordan Coutinho and Matteo Savio of Weber State.
 
After falling in their first match of the day, the tandem of Luca Fe D'Ostiani and Itay Feigin bounced back nicely in the afternoon as they knocked off BYU's Brian Chen and TJ Wells to mark the third doubles win that the Aggies took part in.
 
In singles action, transfer Gustavo Campos highlighted the day with a pair of wins over opponents from UNLV and Air Force. Campos first claimed a victory over UNLV's Creed Skinner – defeating the Rebel in three sets. Later, Campos kept his strong day rolling as he secured a straight-set win over Tyler Leaird of the host institution. With the two wins, Campos advances to the semifinals of the Eagle Draw where he will meet up with Montana's Guillermo Martin for a shot at the draw championship.
 
Meanwhile, Campos' doubles partner Tobias Wallin was the only other Aggie to pick up a win in singles play as he defeated UNLV's Dusan Rsovac to set up a matchup against Utah State's Sergi Fenollar in the Lightning Draw West semifinals on Saturday morning.
