THE FIRST SERVE
• The Aggies will officially put a bow on the regular season this Sunday in Abilene, Texas, as they face off with Abilene Christian at the John T.L. Jones Tennis Building.
• After collecting a big 4-3 win over Grand Canyon at home on April 2, NM State dropped a pair of road contests at UTRGV and at UT Arlington last weekend.
• This weekend's match versus the Wildcats will also serve as the Aggies' last chance to fight for a better seed in the WAC Tournament that is scheduled to begin on April 27 in Arlington, Texas.
• NM State's collision with Abilene Christian will also serve as the Aggies' final opportunity to pick up its first road win of the season as they are currently 0-5 in matches away from the NM State Tennis Center.
• Thus far, the Aggies have been led in singles action by Luca Fé D'Ostiani who has a team-high six singles wins this spring while posting a perfect 3-0 record in league competition.
• Fé D'Ostiani also shined in doubles action last weekend as he and senior
Corey Clarke teamed up for the first time all season and took down UT Arlington's Santiago Giamichelle and Dante Teramo.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
ACU enters Sunday's match with a 12-10 overall record and a 3-1 mark in WAC play. The Wildcats are coming off a 5-2 road win over UTRGV and have collected wins in four of their previous five matches. Cesar Barranquero's 10 wins represent a team-high for the Wildcats while he and Dario Kmet are a perfect 3-0 in WAC singles action. Meanwhile Savan Chhabra and Ethan Scribner are ACU's top duo by a wide margin as they are 13-7 on the year while the next closest tandem has recorded seven wins in doubles play this spring.
COMING UP NEXT
NM State's meetup with Abilene Christian will be followed by participation in the 2023 WAC Men's Tennis Tournament. When the Aggies head to Arlington, they will be looking to claim their fourth WAC title in program history.
