Aggies Fall to #19 Arizona 7-0 in Tucson

Doubles duo of Corey Clarke and Roko Stipetic, Itay Feigin take sets

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. – NM State men's tennis team fell 7-0 on Saturday to Arizona in Tucson. The team returns to action Friday, March 31st as they take on Seattle U at the NMSU Tennis Center.
 
Doubles
  • Arizona's combo of Nick Lagaev and Colton Smith defeated NM State's Yehor Opanasenko and Jordy Visser by a score of 6-2 in match one.
  • The Aggies duo of Corey Clarke and Roko Stipetic toppled the Arizona pair of Eric Padgham and Hiroki Sakagawa by a score of 6-4.
  • In the final doubles match of the day, Luca Fe D'Ostiani and Ryan Ford fell to the Wildcats pairing of Inaki Cabrera-Bello and Jared Horwood 6-2.
 
Singles
  • Itay Feigin was the only Aggie to take a set from the Wildcats in singles play, battling from the No.4 position. After falling 6-0 to start the match, taking the second set 6-3, but was ultimately defeated in the third 10-2.
  • Patrick Lohmann took Arizona's Jared Horwood to the wire in both sets from the No.6 spot, dropping the sets 6-4 and 7-5.
 
Up Next
The Aggies will return to the NMSU Tennis Center on Friday, March 31st to open conference play against Seattle U. This marks the first NM State home game since February 14th. The Redhawks are currently 4-6 on the season with a two-game winning streak.
