Saturday, Jan. 28 | 1 p.m. | Las Cruces, N.M. | NM State Tennis Center
THE FIRST SERVE
• The Aggies return to the NM State Tennis Center for their second straight home match after hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
• After earning their first win of the spring season in their home opener, the Aggies suffered a tight 4-3 loss to the Islanders in their most recent match.
• In the loss, the Aggies fared well in doubles play – winning two of three to earn the doubles point thanks to victories from the team of
Anna Pinaieva and
Lisa Zhu and
Valeriia Ivanovskaia and
Natsuki Nishimura.
• However, Texas A&M-CC made up ground in singles action as
Lisa Zhu and
Natsuki Nishimura were the only two Aggies to earn solo wins.
• Looking ahead to Saturday's match against the Roadrunners – NM State and UTSA most recently competed last season when the Aggies paid a visit to San Antonio.
• The two programs have met often as of late with the Roadrunners appearing on the Aggies' schedule every season since 2016-17 except for 2020-21.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
• UTSA enters Saturday's meeting coming off its first win of the season after opening the spring with a pair of losses on the road at TCU (7-0) and fellow WAC program Abilene Christian (4-3).
• Following the slow start, UTSA was able to collect its first tally in the win column on Friday when they topped UTEP 4-3.
COMING UP NEXT
• NM State will take a couple of weeks off before continuing its extended stay at home when they welcome Montana State on Feb. 11.
