FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The NM State women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Northern Arizona at the NAU Tennis Center. With the loss, the Aggies slip to 1-11 on the year.
DOUBLES
• The Aggies started off strong as Chloe Gavino and Lisa Zhu posted a 6-0 shutout win over Mimi Bland and Annabel Davis in top-flight action.
• That doubles win, though, was the only one NM State got. Bella Nguyen and Miranda Bishard found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-2 decision against Gina Dittmann and Ava Neyestani down line three.
• Northern Arizona locked up the doubles point after Gavi Kalaga and Natsuki Nishimura dropped a narrow 7-5 showdown with Elinor Beazley and Laura Duhl.
SINGLES
• Northern Arizona's lead grew to 2-0 following Gavino's 6-1, 6-1 loss to Dittmann in top-flight one-on-one action.
• Zhu cut the Lumberjacks' lead to 2-1 by playing a near-flawless match against Beazley. Her 6-1, 6-0 victory on line two was NM State's only win of the day.
• Nishimura dropped a 6-1, 6-2 matchup with Bland before Bishard fell 6-2, 6-2 to Duhl in flight six play.
• Like Bishard, Kalaga won just four games in her 6-2, 6-2 loss to Sofia Markova on line four.
• Nguyen won a total of six games against Neyestani, falling 6-3, 6-3 in flight five to close out the match.
