Grinding Through a Pandemic
For the first time since Oct. 24, 2019, the Aggies played a soccer game at the Soccer Athletic Complex in Las Cruces, N.M. on Mar. 13 against UTRGV. Due to the WAC postponing the the fall soccer to the spring and the state regulation put in place by New Mexico, the Aggies were unable to play in its home facilities. The Aggies' "home" games were played at University Field in El Paso, Texas, on the campus of UTEP.
Scouting the Trailblazers
Dixie State comes into its series with NM State 2-7-1 after 3-2 loss to Utah Valley last Saturday. The Trailblazers are 2-5 in WAC play with its only two wins coming against Chicago State. Whitley Griffiths leads the way for Dixie State as she has eight out of the 14 goals this season for the Trailblazers. In the net, Adelle Brown and and Holle Hercik have split nearly equal time in the net. Brown has started three games and has allowed six goals and recorded 10 saves. Hercik has started four games and recorded 22 saves while allowing seven goals      Â
Last Time Out
The Aggies gave first-place California Baptist all it could handle last week, but the Aggies came up just short in a 3-1 loss last Thursday and a 2-1 loss last Saturday. The Aggies struck first in both games, but the Lancers scored the game winning goals in the final 10 minutes in both of the matches.
The Series
Thursday will be the first time these two teams meet. Dixie State is in its first season as a WAC member and its first year in Division I.
