SEATTLE – The New Mexico State women's tennis team didn't have the weekend it wanted and lost its match on Sunday against UMKC, 7-0, at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.

NM State (7-14, 2-3 WAC) battled as best as it could in doubles play, but eventually fell in succession on courts No. 2, No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, and gave the Roos a 1-0 advantage.

Singles action didn't fare any better for the Aggies.
Yadira Rubio was the first to fall in singles action to her opponent 6-2, 6-2. Melinda Johnson of UMKC (12-9, 4-1 WAC) then bested
Quinty Janssen on court No. 3 6-1, 6-4. The match clinched soon after on court No. 1 when Rbeecca Keijzerwaard was bested by Aliona Ladutska 7-5, 6-2 before securing the sweep of NM State with victories at the No. 5, No. 2 and No. 6 singles slots.

With the conference season all wrapped up, NM State finished the slate 2-3 and will play as the No. 3 seed. The Aggies will face off against the No. 6-seed Seattle U on Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. in Phoenix at the Mesa Tennis Center.

New Mexico State now returns home for its final home match of the year against Battle of I-10 rival UTEP next Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m. (MT). Admission is free for all fans.
