SEATTLE – The New Mexico State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision Friday afternoon to Seattle U at the Plaza Tennis Center in the opening match of the second Western Athletic Conference Cluster.

Doubles action started with the No. 3 doubles team for NM State winning 6-3 over their counterparts from Seattle U. However, the Redhawks took the next two matches at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles to take a 1-0 lead over the Aggies.

Eli Arnaudova tied things up fairly quickly into singles play when she took down Kali McCollister 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to tie things up 1-1. Seattle U (8-11, 1-2 WAC) regained the 2-1 lead when Hannah Gianan bested
Lindsay Harlas 6-4, 6-3 and then took a 3-1 lead after Quinty Jansen's 7-, 6-3 loss at No. 3 singles.

NM State (7-12, 2-1 WAC) saw the Redhawks clinch the match after
Rebecca Keijzerwaard was taken down by Michelle Lui 6-2, 6-4 on court No. 1. SU added wins at singles No. 4 and No. 6 afterwards and handed the Aggies a 6-1 loss.

New Mexico State will have to turn the page quickly as it takes on UT Rio Grande Valley Saturday, April 7, at 5 p.m. (MT).
