CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The New Mexico State men's tennis team opened the H-E-B Tournament of Champions with a 4-2 victory over DePaul Friday afternoon at the HEB Tennis Center.

NM State (7-3) dropped the doubles point early on, but was able to rally in singles action for the victory. The No. 2 doubles team of
Stijn de Haan and
Mauri Benitez was the lone Aggie doubles squad to win its doubles match, 6-3.

Down 1-0, Benitez knotted things up for NM State when he bested Luuk Wassenaar on court No. 5 6-4, 6-1 before DePaul's Boris Spanjaard regained the 2-1 lead for the Blue Demons (10-4) with a 6-1, 6-3 win over de Haan.

NM State once again tied the match up after Sergi Espas triumphed over Tamas Zador 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 3 before
Enrique Asmar gave the Aggies their first lead of the match with a 6-4, -6-3 defeat of Fran Tonejc.

Christofer Goncalves sealed the deal for NM State shortly thereafter when he took down Alex Galoustian 6-3, 6-4 at the top singles position.

The Aggies get a little break before it heads back onto the courts to take on UTSA, who defeated Louisiana 4-2 earlier in the morning, Friday afternoon.
