LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team cruised past a short-handed Tarleton State team Saturday morning 6-1.
Â
The day started quickly for the Aggies as their top doubles team blew past TSU's top doubles team 6-0 to clinch the point due to the TexAnns not being able to field a third doubles team.
Â
Yadira Rubio's match at No. 4 doubles went to a tiebreaker but the transfer was able to get her ducks in a row to claim the 6-4, 6-7, 10-7 victory. TSU (2-1) picked up its lone point of the morning at the No. 1 singles slot when
Vanessa Valdez was bested by Alicia Barbaroux 6-1, 6-3.
Â
Rebecca Keijzerwaard gave NM State (3-5) the 3-1 advantage not too long after when she took down Neetika Sud 6-1, 7-6 at the No. 2 doubles slot. Las Cruces native
Lindsay Harlas clinched the match for NM State when she defeated Sherine Salem 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. The Aggies ended up winning 6-1 due to it forfeiting the matches.
