Aggies Prepare for Northern Arizona and Houston

Women’s soccer gets a break from traveling as they get ready to host Northern Arizona and Houston.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's soccer team remains at home for week five of competition as they prepare to host Northern Arizona Friday, Sept. 15, at the Soccer Athletic Complex. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. The Aggies welcome the Houston Cougars later in the weekend on Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.
 

AGGIES BESTED BY LADYJACKS
  • NM State suffered its third loss of the season, falling to Stephen F. Austin, 1-0.
  • Goalkeeper Ashley Martin held her opponents to one goal while accumulating seven saves during the match.
  • The Aggies came out strong in the second half with forward Aileen Galicia taking two shots at the goal along with teammate Devin Hart who earned two shots of her own.

NM STATE FALLS TO INCARNATE WORD
  • Despite outshooting their opponent 11-10, the Aggies were no match for the Cardinals as they fell 3-2.
  • Forward Devin Hart racked up two goals, both coming in the second half of the match. She now has a total of three goals on the season.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Raeann Garcia made her season debut in the second half of the match and kept her opponent scoreless while getting two saves.

UP NEXT….NORTHERN ARIZONA
  • New Mexico State (4-4-1) remains at home for week five of competition, hosting Northern Arizona on Sept. 15, at 3 p.m.
  • NAU is 5-2 thus far in the 2017 season, taking down opponents Texas State, Grand Canyon, Detroit Mercy, Nevada and Pacific along the way.
  • Lumberjack head coach Andre Luciano enters his 17th season with the organization. He currently holds an all-time record of 131-135-47.

PREVIEW: NM STATE VS. HOUSTON
  • The Aggies look ahead as they get ready to face Houston on Sept. 17. The Cougars currently have a 3-2-1 record so far in 2017.
  • Houston is led by Diego Bocanegra, who became the soccer program's fifth head coach in Dec. 2016.
  • Midfielder Hannah Dauzat leads the Cougars in goals with three so far this season, which came during the Southern Miss, Rice and Northern Arizona games.
