Men's Tennis Continues on the Road This Weekend

The NM State men’s tennis team continues its long-stretch on the road with a pair of matches this weekend in Dallas.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team continues its long stretch on the road this weekend with a pair of matches in Dallas. First up for the Aggies will be Incarnate Word on Saturday, Feb. 11, followed by UT Arlington on Sunday, Feb. 12. Both matches are slated for a 10 a.m. (MT) first serve.

UIW is 2-3 on the year while UTA is 2-1 heading into this weekend's matches. Saturday's contest will be the first meeting between New Mexico State and Incarnate Word. NM State and UT Arlington last squared off in 2014-15 when they faced off in Las Cruces that was in favor of UTA 4-1. The last time the Aggies beat the Mavericks dates back to the 2000 season, a 4-3 victory for NM State on the road.

GONCALVES NOTCHES POW HONOR
Junior Christofer Goncalves notched WAC Player of the Week this past Tuesday after guiding the Aggies to a 3-1 mark in Las Vegas.

This is the third player of the week honor for the Barquisimeto, Venezuela, native and the first one of the dual season. He was named the WAC Athlete of the Month twice in the fall (September and October).

After seeing his win-streak in both singles and doubles snapped against UNLV, Goncalves bounced back with three-straight win s in doubles action, including a doubles-point clinching 7-6 (3-0) win against Weber State's No. 1 doubles pair.

UP NEXT
NM State stays on the road two weeks later as it heads north to square off against Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico on Monday, Feb. 27, for a 3 p.m. match.
